Flam is located at the top of the Aurlandsfjord and the name means little place between steep mountains. The main attraction is the Flam railway which goes from sea level at Flam to about 3000 feet at Myrdal station the end of the 15-mile line.

The Flam railroad took 23 years to complete and goes through 20 hand dug tunnels. No railroad in the world has a steeper climb.

After leaving the train at Myrdal we took a bus to Stalheim for a buffet lunch at the Stalheim hotel. The buffet consisted over various types of fish and was really delicious. We then went on to Voss where we stopped for coffee and Danish pastries. Along the way we stopped at overlooks to take pictures of the mountains and waterfalls.
