We really liked Stockholm and I’m not sure exactly why. It just seemed a very friendly city.

Unfortunately we didn’t have much time to spend there, only about 5 hours. We got on the hop-on bus and decided to see the Vasa museum located at the Swedish national museum, walk around the old town and see what else we had time for.

The Vasa was a 64-gun warship built in the late 17th century. At that point it was the largest warship ever built in Sweden. On its maiden voyage it capsized and sank before it even got out of Stockholm harbor.

The wreck was discovered by divers in the 1960s and raised almost intact. The brackish cold water had preserved the hull to the extent that about 99 percent of the restored ship displayed in the museum is original.

We spent a lot of time at the museum so we didn’t have much time for anything else. We got on the bus and went to the old town, the original part of the city. We found it very crowded and seemed to be mostly souvenir shops. Nearby was the palace so we walked over to that. We then rode the bus back to the ship and Got aboard with about 15 minutes to spare.
