It was warm and sunny when we docked in Copenhagen, the last port of call on our trip. It’s famous for the statue of Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Mermaid’, in fact every tour offered by the ship, no matter what it was about or where it went, had a photo stop at the Little Mermaid.

We took a hop-on bus tour of the whole city — with of course the obligatory photo stop. Seriously, though, Copenhagen is a beautiful city with it mixture of ultra-modern, art deco and 19th century buildings. Like many of the cities we visited, it has picturesque canals.

After the bus tour we walked along the city’s waterfront, past a circular marina and a number of monuments to Danish polar explorers.

One thing, the crowds seemed to be very localized, naturally around the little mermaid but there was also a long long line waiting to get into the Tivoli Gardens. Otherwise things were very encrowded, A welcome change from some of our past tours.
