Weather delayed our arrival, so we had only had a couple of hours to spend in Albany and we couldn't really see much. Albany has a natural deep water harbor which eventually made the town a major processing center for the world's whaling fleets.

There was a whaling museum but it was out of the town itself so we didn't have time for a visit. Albany was also the port from which 30,000 ANZAC troops for the World War I battlefields of Gallipoli so there is also a war museum, this on top of Mount Clarence and also too far for us to visit.

Instead we walked around the town and explored the port area. There is one unusal building, the theaterwhich is very modern compared to every other structure
