Vancouver was our final port and our only stop in Canada. It was also the largest city we visited.

Since our flight didn’t leave until 6:00 we booked a hop-on tour of the city which included train tickets to the airport. We really didn’t have time to actually get off and explore but we did get a comprehensive view of the city.

Vancouver is a very modern city with lots of tall glass buildings. It is very diverse, in fact our guide told us that over 50 percent of the population has a first language other than English.

The city has is very green and many of its building have roof-top gardens. The convention center near the harbor actually has a sod roof with grss and trees and flowers and beehives.

The waterfront is really beautiful with long beaches and multiple marinas. Granville island is a center for the arts and entertainment with no vehicle traffic allowed.

After riding around the city we stopped off at a pub for a late lunch. We had asked the bus driver for some place that was not flooded with tourists So he sent us to the Tap and Barrel — which was flooded with locals.

After lunch we walked to the train station and took the train to the airport. We picked up our luggage there, went through security and started the long flight home.
